In the advent of service changes and structures in the NZ health sector, there is an increasing demand for dynamic health leaders with both sound technical skills as well as resilient leadership to support and energise people.
Resilient leadership in the health sector is increasingly viewed as a crucial element in achieving goals in overall healthcare services. By developing resilient leadership skills, healthcare professionals will be able to drive and synergise various elements to continually contribute to the effective delivery of healthcare services.
Leadership in the Health Sector is a unique contemporary leadership course that is designed in the context of NZ health care services to explore in greater detail the dimensions of leadership and skills essential for leaders in the health sector.
More importantly, it is aimed at developing your highest potential as a resilient leader who inspires the team to be engaged and move forward. You will emerge from the course with a greater ability to manage change/transition, develop emotional intelligence and resilience, refine your intrapersonal/interpersonal communication skills but most of all, be able to lead and implement necessary changes and improvements throughout your organisation.

• NZ strategic and operational challenges in health care/ health sector
• Critical human capital issues in Healthcare
• The role of Resilience is Health Service delivery
Self Mastery
• Feedback on intrapersonal dimension
• Accurate self knowledge as the tipping point for leadership
• Physical vitality – self care and optimising your energy levels
• Stress mastery – being calm and alert under pressure
Practical exercise: Development planning
Emotional Intelligence in Leadership
• Understand the difference between IQ and EQ and how they relate
• What is the connection between emotional intelligence and leadership effectiveness?
• Resonant Leadership:
- Impulse control and emotion regulation
- Thinking styles and reframing
Day Two
Resilient Leadership Framework
• Leading people in adversity
• Building resilient people
• Empathy and social cognition
• How leaders build or destroy resilience
• Defining the link between leadership style, culture and performance
