Deploying Emotional Intelligence in Leadership

About

COURSE OBJECTIVE
To raise awareness of the critical role Emotional Intelligence plays in Leadership
“Emotional Intelligence is a way of recognising, understanding, and choosing how we think, feel, and act. It shapes our interactions with others and our understanding of ourselves. It defines how and what we learn; it allows us to set priorities; it determines the majority of our daily actions. Research suggests it is responsible for as much as 80% of the ‘success’ in our lives.”
- Freedman et al., “Handle With Care: Emotional Intelligence Activity Book”
“People get work done, not buildings, not staffs in a generic sense, and not plans, but people.”
- Colin Powell, US Secretary of State 2001-2004
Most organisations today do not just compete on products alone. The ability to lead a high performing team and emotionally intelligent team is what gives an organisation the competitive edge today. And to be able to achieve that, leaders have to be emotionally intelligent themselves.
Being an emotionally intelligent leader means that one is attuned to the subtle undercurrents of emotions and unspoken thoughts within the team. He/she will have the flexibility, adaptability and fortitude to solve complex problems and make key decisions wisely.
Deploying Emotional Intelligence in Leadership has been designed to help you, the leader, to cultivate and leverage your emotional competence to give you the edge over other conventional leaders. Unlike IQ that can only be marginally improved over the years, emotional intelligence can be nurtured and significantly strengthened through the right guidance and training.
Deploying Emotional Intelligence in Leadership will take you beyond your existing knowledge and strengths to help you be a leader who inspires confidence, initiative and ultimately pull people together to forge ahead successfully towards a common goal/vision.
